Jonesboro Family Law
& Trial Attorney

I’m Bryce Cook. I was born and raised in Jonesboro, and I have been licensed to practice law in Arkansas since 2009. I have served as a public defender and as a deputy prosecuting attorney, and I founded this firm nearly a decade ago. Most of my work is family law: divorce, custody, child support, guardianship and adoption. I also handle criminal defense and civil litigation. My wife, Sara Beth, works alongside me as lead paralegal.

People usually call a lawyer during one of the hardest stretches of their lives. They need someone who will listen carefully, tell them the truth and help them move forward. That is what Sara Beth and I try to do for every client. My office is on W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro, and I handle cases in 15 counties across the Second, Third and Sixteenth Judicial Circuits, from Jonesboro and Paragould to Batesville and Mountain View, and I take select cases statewide. Your Guide Through It

Most people come to us in unfamiliar, difficult country. We have been here before. My job isn’t just to tell you what the law says. It’s to know the terrain, find the strongest path forward, prepare you for what’s ahead, and walk it with you.

A plan built for your case

We start with the problem you actually need solved, then build the plan around it. Some cases call for a fair agreement. Some call for a trial. The work should fit the problem, not the paperwork.

Clear, phased flat fees

In every type of case, I offer a flat fee for each phase, sized to what that phase requires, so you know the cost of the next step before we take it. The structure can be tailored to the case and the client, including, in qualifying matters, a contingency fee with the firm advancing case costs. Your written fee agreement will spell out exactly how fees and costs work.

Honest advice you can act on

Before I advise you, I take the time to understand your problem, what you need and what’s driving you. Then you get clear, honest, actionable advice, including what you may not want to hear. Then the choice is yours, because it’s your life. Whatever you decide, I’m with you.

I have your back

We’re reasonable whenever reason works, and relentless when it doesn’t. When someone tries to bully or take advantage of you, we stand between you and them.

See if your case is a fit

Whether your divorce is contested or uncontested, you deserve a clear plan.

When an agreement serves my client, I work toward one. I prepare every case knowing it may need to be tried.

In addition to my private practice, I have served as both a public defender and a deputy prosecuting attorney, handling hundreds of cases from traffic tickets to murders. I take a select number of criminal cases, usually difficult matters that are likely to require a trial. If you have been charged with a crime, or think you may be, talk with a lawyer before you talk with anyone else about the case.

A criminal charge can affect your freedom, your work and your family.

I will explain the charge, the possible penalties, the process ahead and your options, and I will be honest with you about the strengths and weaknesses of your case. I prepare every criminal case from the start as if it will go to trial, because the cases I take are often the ones that should. Whether to accept an offer or take your case to a jury is always your decision.

Criminal matters I handle include:

Judges chair in courtroom

If you were hurt because of someone else’s carelessness, Arkansas law may allow you to recover for medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering. Fault and deadlines matter. Arkansas reduces a recovery by the injured person’s share of fault and bars it when that fault is equal to or greater than the other side’s, and most injury lawsuits must be filed within three years. My personal injury page explains how these cases work.

Some disputes don’t fit neatly into a category, and some can only be settled in a courtroom. I handle civil lawsuits in circuit court, including:
